VOLS DEFEAT SOUTH ALABAMA 31-24

VOLS IMPROVE TO 3-2 WITH A "WIN IS A WIN" OVER SOUTH ALABAMA

Knoxville, Tennessee  (HOUSEOFNEYLAND) The University of Tennessee Volunteers ran up an early lead, but then had to hold on as South Alabama gave them a run for their money.

The Tennessee "D" had to come through with a 4th Quarter STOP to preserve a 31-24 victory.

It was 4th and goal at the UT 8 yard line when a USA pass was intercepted by Brian Randolph.

At this point in the season, the VOLS were predicted to be 3-2.  They are 3-2.  Next week, the GEORGIA BULLDOGS will come to town licking their chops after defeating LSU in Athens.

Tennessee's "a win is a win" was nothing short of UGLY. UT mustered just 2 more 1st downs than USA and were outpassed 204 to 257 yards.

The VOLS managed to gain 90 more total yards than USA, 482-392.

The News-Sentinel's, Evan Woodberry, gave UT an overall grade of C with the bright spots being running backs, and the defensive line.

VOL fans are hoping that TEAM #117 under Coach Butch Jones will win one this year that they are not supposed to.  It would be great if that was against the Bulldogs this coming Saturday afternoon at Neyland, but given the performances of these two teams last Saturday, that has to be most unlikely.
